In the meantime…
A Story:
It was over 10 years ago I learned to dance from a woman named Isis while working at Glacier National Park up in Montana. I remember her dorm room being small enough that the sense of isolations was not hard to grasp. She taught me a ‘Miserlou’ sequence and I have been hooked since. So thank you Isis wherever you may be for assisting me in tapping into this sacred feminine art.
My first full costume was a black beast of too much fabric that I’d made out “on the land”, northeast of Flagstaff, Arizona at the Gateway Ranch on a sewing machine I’d picked up at a pawn shop for $25 and brought home for use on solar power. True story.
Over the years (and years) of dancing and costuming I realize I still have a lot to learn. I’ve expanded my vocabulary and taken a variety of World Dance classes:
*Afro-Cuban/Afro-Haitian/Condemble/Voudon
*Flamenco/Gypsy Fusion
*West African/Yoruban/Congalese/Ghanain
*Classical Indian/Bharatnatyam/Khatak/Rajasthani Gypsy
Through all of this, I made my own costumes, and for classmates! (A picture gallery coming soon to a link near here)
Here are my upcoming performances!
Really, who doesn't like to play dress up?
